A NOTE FROM T

I envisioned the Live Updates page as a real-time scoreboard, with the whole "Refresh if this page doesn't update in 30 seconds" note up top. Alas, it didn't quite work out that way ;)

If you didn't catch the latest on the update page, here it is:

4:30 p.m. Update - Carolyn is now out of surgery. Everything went extremely well. The lump was removed, as well as the lymph nodes from that side. Initial tests of the sentinal node were negative, which is great news! Carolyn will be going to Nurse Linda's Recovery Unit tonight if she feels well enough to go home. Stay tuned to her blog for further updates!

If Cari could blog from her hospital bed:

"mmm, uh.. huh..wha?? Drugs.. Drugs are good!"

Thank you all for your support!
T (Carolyn's sister)

The link to the Updates page is on the main homepage, under the top banner:

"1/31/06... Please check the Live Updates page for the latest news on Carolyn's status"

I was mistaken in my interpretation of Cari's lucidity. She could form full sentences and everything when I just talked to her. She is doing GREAT!!

:)

T -

Thanks for the great news! The live updates is a great idea - I was hoping for a "ticker tape" sort of like at the bottom of the TV when you watch the news. Just kidding! Thanks again.

Carolyn -

If I had a "ticker tape" of my thoughts this morning it would read "I'm so happy that Carolyn's surgery went well. I can't believe I've been at work since before the sun was up. Was the sun late in getting up this morning? Did I really just eat an entire sleeve of Girl Scout cookies? Where did I put my pen? I'm so relieved Carolyn's sentinal node was negative. What is a node? HAPPY THOUGHTS...HAPPY THOUGHTS...

Keep smiling!

I am so glad everything went smoothly.

Rest up this week and please let me know what I can do to help! Perhaps "Alexandra" would like to play with Maggie sometime soon. We would love to play with him for a day!

I am thinking of you!!!

The Adventures of Radioactive Boob Woman – Part 2

The sharp knife flashed in her eyes as she felt the sting of its blade on her chest. Dr. Breast Can Sir was indeed as malevolent as she had been forewarned. "This malignant creature must not be allowed to escape," our heroine thought.

With all of her strength, she focused her mind and her will on defeating this creature. Her breasts once again glowed with their alien green light, blinding the Dr. and giving Radioactive Boob Woman enough time to escape his grasp.

"Curses," the doctor shouted, staggering blindly. "Do you really think you alone can stop me?"

"But she is not alone," came a voice from a dark corner of the room. Out stepped Radioactive Boob Woman's constant companion and trusty sidekick, Captain Jim.

"I have been endowed with good thoughts and well wishes from countless family and friends," Captain Jim exclaimed. "There is no way you can defeat us now." Pulling a ray gun from his side, Captain Jim fired at Dr. Breast Can Sir.

"Nooooooo!" screamed the Dr. in agony. The ray gun produced a unique force field of love and hope, that trapped the evil creature and slowly began to drain his powers.

Together, Radioactive Boob Woman and Captain Jim concentrated their powers on destroying Dr. Breast Can Sir. The blinding, radioactive green light combined with the rays of love and hope began to eat away at the Dr., until there was nothing left but the hope, the love, and a soft, lingering green glow.

"Holy victory Radioactive Boob Woman!" Captain Jim said excitedly. "We did it! We won the battle!"

"Never any doubt, my faithful sidekick," our heroine said grinning proudly.

Exhausted but ecstatic, our two heroes set out hand in hand, ready to bravely meet their next adventure.

Dedicated to Cari and Jim – two superheroes who live outside the world of comic books.

Love,
Gisela and Jed :-)

Domestic Engineer,

It has been over three years since I last saw you smile in person. I can only imagine what your smile is like on drugs (last time I was in surgery it was more of a drool). Your blog is brilliant. I wouldn't expect any less. You are in my thoughts. If you ever need an outside voice to listen to you in coming months, please don't hestiate to call.

Dear Brave and Strong Carolyn,

Things to be happy about:
You can change "Potentially" to "Certainly" or "Definitely" or "Positively" The sun will never set on good wishes. I am thinking of you and Jim and X and Liam non stop and am feeling close by from Sri Lanka. Can you feel it? All of the support from your friends, fans, and family?

Yeehaw on successful surgery! Been watching the updates like an eagle.
Thank you for your honesty. And for writing at all. You are gutsy!

LOVE, Mary
