THEY WON’T MISS YOU WHEN YOU’RE GONE

Pretty much everyone has been incredible—saying wonderful things, being compassionate, offering to help… It’s been amazing. I can’t tell you how much the support and good wishes have meant and will continue to mean. But, I have been able to shock impressively insensitive responses out a few people. Most notably xander’s new teacher. I wanted to let her know about my situation just in case Xander said anything or the kids in his class happened to notice that I didn’t have any hair come summer… I even thought that perhaps I could talk to the kids about it, and it could be one of those “practical life” sessions Montessori schools tout so avidly.
“Oh,” she shook her head solemnly “we don’t like to mention breasts in front of the children.”
“Besides,” she told me, “you’re not around much, so they won’t miss you when you’re gone.”
Maybe she should go work with Dr. Goldenhands? :)

As the LC trip this week approaches, and I realize that you will not be there, I can DEFINATELY say, "we will miss you when your gone."

Mouth wide open, jaw on floor. You've got to be kidding, right??? It borders on absurd...
You know what Robin Williams used to say, right?

As you know, I was once asked not to use the word "butt" at Day Care. Anyway, not being "there" is a lot different from being "gone." Besides, you'll be "there" soon anyway. --DAD

Well, I don't know what to say other than I am sorry that J
doesn't see the need to talk about breasts but so as not to give Montessori a bad name, you may give practical life lessons in my class anytime!!!! By the way, who told Dad not to say "butt"??
Maybe I will have J come in sometime during feeding time and let her see and hear that some B words really are OK!!

I really don't want people to think that Montessori is some sort of restrictive, censored environment. Far from it. After all, PJ (the Director) and the teachers have let me visit whenever and do whatever. It's a great place! Having to say "bum" instead of "butt" and "boob" instead of "breast" is a small price to pay. [Just kidding about the boob part.]

I don't actually think this deserves a comment. I mean, seriously, are you kidding me??! Let her talk to the hand.

UGH!!!!! She obviously knows nothing. As a former Kindergarten teacher I would welcome a parent or anyone to come talk to the kids about breast cancer. I think she is stupid not to get that kids are more aware then we think they are and Alexander and the class could benefit from your visit. It really pisses me off. How insensitive! Do I need to put her on my hit list?
Love,
cynthia

The old Cari (parts of it)are leaving and a new Cari is here! A Super Woman!!! or is it Wonder Woman? Super Wonder vibes are going your way and know that good things are just around the bend.
